Malu Dreyer, born in 1961 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, is a lawyer and politician. She studied law, English studies and theology in Mainz. She began her political career in 1995 as mayor of Bad Kreuznach. In 2002, she was appointed Minister for Labour, Social Affairs, Family and Health in Mainz. From 2013 to 2024, she served as Minister-President of Rhineland-Palatinate. In 2016 and 2021, she was elected as an individual member of the Central Committee of German Catholics.
