Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen (1934–2016) was a Canadian writer, poet, and musician. Born in Montreal, he initially focused on literature and published poetry and novels before turning increasingly to music in the 1960s. Songs such as “Suzanne,” “Hallelujah,” and “Dance Me to the End of Love” made him internationally known. His first album was released in 1967, followed by numerous others. Cohen received, among other honors, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He died in Los Angeles in 2016. His final album, “Thanks for the Dance,” was released posthumously.
