Knut Diers, born in Hanover in 1959, is a geographer, journalist and author. He studied geography in Giessen and worked for more than 20 years as an editor at the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung, including seven years as head of its travel section. He later became self-employed with the editorial office Buenos Diers Media. Diers wrote travel guides, travel narratives and reportage, as well as works of fiction. He spent part of his childhood on the island of Sylt, to which he has retained a particular connection.
