Jonathan Meese

Jonathan Meese, born in Tokyo in 1970, is a German artist and author. His multifaceted work encompasses painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and performance, as well as writing, stage design and directing for theater and opera. Major solo exhibitions include “Revolution” (2003) at the Kestnergesellschaft in Hanover, “Mama Johnny” (2006) at the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg and “Jonathan Meese Sculpture” (2010) at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami. His work is held in collections including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Albertina in Vienna and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk.
