John McCrea, born in Belfast in 1966, is a comic artist. Early in his career, he worked on adaptations of various animated series and drew short stories for 2000 AD. In 1989, he illustrated Zerrissene Herzen, Garth Ennis’s comic debut. McCrea later collaborated with Ennis on titles including The Demon, Hitman, Preacher and Section Eight. His other work includes Superboy, comics featuring Batman and Wonder Woman, Jenny Sparks: The Secret History of the Authority, Mars Attacks, Mythic, The Atheist, Spider-Man: Get Kraven, The 99 and Dead Rabbit. He received an Eisner Award for Hitman in 1998.
