Iris Berben

Iris Berben (born 1950 in Detmold) is a German actress. She grew up in Hamburg and made her film debut in 1968 in Rudolf Thome’s “Detectives” (“Detektive”). She became widely known through the comedy series “Sketchup” and the crime series “Rosa Roth”. Her other notable works include “The Guldenburg Legacy” (“Das Erbe der Guldenburgs”), “Krupp – A German Family” and “Buddenbrooks”. Berben has received numerous awards, including the Adolf Grimme Award, the Golden Camera, the Bambi and the Bavarian Television Award for lifetime achievement. In 2010, she was elected president of the German Film Academy. She received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her work against antisemitism and racism.
