Tom Krausz, born in Hamburg in 1951, studied photography there and initially worked as a camera assistant for NDR television and ZDF, as well as an assistant to various photographers. From 1980 onward, he worked as a freelance photographer and filmmaker. He published more than 130 photo essays in magazines including Stern, Merian, Spiegel, ZEITmagazin, Brigitte and Feinschmecker, and contributed to television documentaries for ARTE, WDR and Servus TV. His publications include books on Jerusalem, Italy and the poet Dylan Thomas, several volumes with Elke Heidenreich, and Jerusalem – Menschen und Geschichten einer wundersamen Stadt with Iris Berben. His work has been exhibited in Germany and abroad, and he received several photography awards.
