Ingrid Annel was born in Erfurt in 1955. She studied physics, mathematics, German studies and art education. She subsequently worked, among other things, as a construction worker in Ukraine, bookseller, dramaturge for cabaret and children’s and youth theatre, editor and independent music teacher. From 1998 onward, she worked as a freelance author and published numerous books for children, young people and adults. Her writing focused particularly on fairy tales, legends and regional history. Her works included “Mein Thüringen-Buch”, “Glücksdrachenpech” and “Esel Erasmus unterwegs im sagenhaften Erfurt”, as well as “111 Museen in Thüringen, die man gesehen haben muss”, co-written with Ulf Annel. As a book clown, she combined stories, songs and wordplay in her own stage programmes.
