Harald Hartung

Harald Hartung, born in Herne in 1932, was a poet, essayist, and critic. He worked for several years as a professor of German at Technische Universität Berlin and directed the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin. In anthologies such as “Luftfracht” and “Jahrhundertgedächtnis,” he presented and analyzed German and international poetry; his essay collections included “Masken und Stimmen.” His honors included the Annette von Droste-Hülshoff Prize, the International Poetry Prize “Chianti Ruffino-Antico Fattore,” the Frankfurter Anthologie Prize, the Würth Prize for European Literature, the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize, and the Literaturpreis Ruhr.
