Lothar Quinkenstein (born 1967 in Bayreuth) was a literary scholar, writer, and translator from Polish. He studied German and ethnology in Freiburg im Breisgau and lived in Poland from 1994 to 2011. His novels included Tellurium (2013) and Souterrain (2019). He translated works by, among others, Henryk Grynberg, Ludwik Hering, Władysław Panas, and Olga Tokarczuk; with Lisa Palmes, he translated Tokarczuk’s The Books of Jacob. He received the Jabłonowski Prize and the Spiegelungen Prize for Poetry in 2017, and the Karl Dedecius Prize in 2024.
