Tarjei Vesaas

Tarjei Vesaas (1897–1970) was a Norwegian writer. He wrote novels, poetry, plays and short prose in Nynorsk. His best-known works include The Ice Palace and The Birds. In 1964, he received the Nordic Council’s Literature Prize for The Ice Palace. Vesaas was nominated for the Nobel Prize several times. In 1934, he married the Norwegian poet Halldis Moren.
