Esther Kinsky

Esther Kinsky (born 1956 in Engelskirchen, Germany) is a German writer and translator of Polish, Russian and English-language literature. Among the authors she has translated are Miron Białoszewski, Magdalena Tulli, Joanna Bator, Aleksander Wat, Henry D. Thoreau and John Clare. She has published poetry, essays, prose and novels, including »Banatsko«, »Am Fluß«, »Hain«, »Schiefern« and »Rombo«. »Banatsko« and »Am Fluß« were longlisted for the German Book Prize; she received the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2018 for »Hain«. Her other honors include the Paul Celan Prize, the Karl Dedecius Prize, the Franz Hessel Prize, the German Prize for Nature Writing and the Kleist Prize.
