Hannes Androsch

Hannes Androsch, born in Vienna in 1938, is an Austrian politician, business executive, and author. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ), he served as a member of the Austrian National Council from 1966 to 1970, Federal Minister of Finance from 1970 to 1981, and Vice Chancellor from 1976 to 1981 in the governments of Bruno Kreisky. He subsequently served as director general of Creditanstalt-Bankverein (1981–1988) and became active in industrial investment. In 1989, he founded the consultancy AIC Androsch International Management Consulting. Androsch published several books and worked as an editor and commentator on economic and political affairs. His publications include “Staat, Steuern und Gesellschaft,” “Warum Österreich so ist, wie es ist,” and “Zukunft. Erkennen – Gestalten.” He received several honorary doctorates, including from Montanuniversität Leoben and the University of New Orleans.
