Gabriel Felbermayr

Gabriel Felbermayr (born in 1976 in Steyr) studied in Linz and received his doctorate from the European University Institute in Florence. After a brief period at McKinsey & Co. in Vienna, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Tübingen. He subsequently held professorships at the University of Hohenheim and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and headed the ifo Center for International Economics. From 2019 to 2021, he served as president of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. In 2021, he was appointed director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) and professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
