Georg Witte

Georg Witte, born in Arnsberg in 1952, is a literary scholar, translator, and poet. He taught Slavic studies and comparative literature at Humboldt University of Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, and the Higher School of Economics in Saint Petersburg. His research interests included Russian literature, the Russian avant-garde, unofficial art and literature in the Soviet Union, and the media and materiality of writing. As a translator, he worked on contemporary Russian literature.
