Elena Esposito

Elena Esposito (born 1960) is an Italian sociologist. She studied political science, philosophy and sociology at the universities of Bologna and Bielefeld, among others with Umberto Eco and Niklas Luhmann. Over the course of her academic career, she held professorships in Bologna, Bielefeld and Modena. She published numerous works on social systems theory, media theory, memory theory and the sociology of financial markets. Her books include *Artificial Communication: How Algorithms Produce Social Intelligence* and *Kommunikation mit unverständlichen Maschinen* (2024).
