Eduardo Barreto was from Uruguay and taught himself to draw. He initially illustrated newspaper comic strips in his home country and created original characters and series that were published throughout Latin America. During the 1970s, he worked with Argentine comics artists and writers including Ricardo Villagrán and H. G. Oesterheld. At the end of the decade, he began taking assignments from major American publishers. His notable work includes stories featuring Batman, Green Arrow, Man-Bat, Martian Manhunter, Superman and The Shadow Strikes, as well as several chapters of Marv Wolfman’s The New Teen Titans. He also drew the newspaper comic Judge Parker. Eduardo Barreto died in 2011.
