Archie Goodwin

Archie Goodwin (d. 1998) was an American comic-book writer, artist, and editor. He began his career with comic strips and cartoons before working for Warren Publishing, including on “Vampirella.” In the 1970s, he served as Marvel’s editor-in-chief and wrote numerous comics, including “Star Wars” and an adaptation of “Alien.” For DC Comics, he oversaw titles including “Batman” and “Starman.” With Walter Simonson, he created the acclaimed backup series “Manhunter” in “Detective Comics.” Goodwin received the Eisner Award for Best Editor in 1993 and, with Gary Gianni, won the 1997 award for Best Short Story for the Batman story “Heroes.”
