Cornelia Naumann was born in Marburg, Germany, and studied theatre studies, German literature and Romance studies in Cologne. She subsequently worked at German theatres as an assistant director, dramaturge, theatre educator and press officer. She wrote plays about women who had been overlooked by historical accounts before turning to fiction. Her novels include “Die Portraitmalerin” (2014), about the painter Anna Dorothea Therbusch; “Königlicher Verrat” (2016), about Isabeau de Bavière; and “Der Abend kommt so schnell” (2018), about the revolutionary Sonja Lerch. Her work combines literary storytelling with biographical research.
