Harald Welzer (born 1958) is a sociologist and social psychologist. He co-founded and served as director of the nonprofit FUTURZWEI Foundation for Future Capability and was professor of transformational design at Europa-Universität Flensburg, where he led the Norbert Elias Center. He also taught at universities including St. Gallen and Zurich. His research focused on memory, group violence and the cultural effects of climate change. His books include “Täter: Wie aus ganz normalen Menschen Massenmörder werden,” “Klimakriege,” “Selbst denken,” “Alles könnte anders sein,” “Nachruf auf mich selbst” and “Zeitenende.” With Richard David Precht, he published “Die vierte Gewalt.”
