Claudia Platz was born in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and grew up in Mainz and the Palatinate. After training as a medical laboratory assistant, she studied anthropology, ethnology and philosophy. From 2001 onward, she worked as a freelance author, publishing crime novels with a regional focus as well as numerous short stories in anthologies. Her historical novel “Die falschen Caesaren” explores Mainz’s Roman heritage, while “Das Blut von Magenza” examines the impact of the First Crusade on the Jewish SchUM cities of Speyer, Worms and Mainz. Platz was a founding member of the writers’ group “Mörderisches Rheinhessen,” which held a crime festival from 2008 to 2017. In 2015, she received third prize from the advisory board of the Kultur im Landkreis Mainz-Bingen foundation for her story “Zeit zu rasten”.
