Carl Hegemann

Carl Hegemann is a philosopher and dramaturg. From 1970 to 1978, he studied philosophy, social sciences and literary studies in Frankfurt am Main. From 1992 onward, he worked intermittently as chief dramaturg at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin and also worked at theatres in Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Bochum. He was a professor of dramaturgy at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig and taught at other universities. In 2002, Theater heute named him “Dramaturg of the Year.”
