Annette Kopetzki

Annette Kopetzki, born in Hamburg in 1954, studied German and philosophy. After graduating, she spent twelve years in Italy, where she worked as a university lecturer in Rome and Pescara and as a journalist for German media. She later earned a doctorate in Hamburg on theoretical and aesthetic questions of literary translation. From the 1990s onward, she translated Italian fiction and poetry into German, including works by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Erri De Luca, Andrea Camilleri, Alessandro Baricco, Roberto Saviano, and Edmondo De Amicis. She was also involved in presenting and discussing literary translation through organizations including Weltlesebühne and the VdÜ. In 2019, she received the Paul Celan Prize for Literary Translation.
