Rezension von Dr Malini BhatMaybe I’m a bit of a love-hater… but this was one of my most anticipated reads of 2025 and it ended up being such a letdown. I knew about 20 pages in that this wasn’t going to be the book for me, but I kept gaslighting myself into thinking it would get better. It did not. The FMC constantly states the most painfully obvious things and comes across weirdly immature — like a middle schooler trying way too hard to impress her crush. The story leans heavily into body image and body dysmorphia, which could’ve been powerful… but the execution felt frustrating. Instead of a real self-growth arc, it basically turned into “a hot guy told me I’m pretty so now I have confidence.” And the romance? Somehow she talks about how hot he is every chapter, yet they still have zero chemistry. I was mostly just confused about why these two even liked each other.
