William Ladd Taylor

William Ladd Taylor (1854–1926) was an American illustrator. He studied art in Boston and New York, and in Paris in 1884–85 under Boulanger and Lefebvre. His predominantly narrative drawings often first appeared in magazines; from 1895, his work was published in The Ladies’ Home Journal. Taylor issued several collections of his work, covering subjects including nineteenth-century New England, the pioneer West, Longfellow, the Psalms, old songs, American life, American literature, and the Old Testament. His illustrations were noted for their keen understanding of human nature and careful historical accuracy.
