Charles Edmund Brock

Charles Edmund Brock (1870–1938) was a British illustrator and painter. He briefly studied under the sculptor Henry Wiles and received his first book commission in 1890. Brock illustrated works by Jonathan Swift, William Thackeray, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and George Eliot, and also contributed to periodicals including The Quiver, The Strand and Punch. Between 1901 and 1910, he published more than one hundred illustrations in Punch. In 1917–18, Percy Bradshaw included him among the twenty leading illustrators selected for The Art of the Illustrator.
