Ulrike Schimming

Ulrike Schimming (*1967 in Hamburg) studied Italian studies, German studies and philosophy in Hamburg, Florence and Stuttgart, and earned a doctorate on Italian photographic novels. She began translating from Italian during her doctoral studies. Her translations from Italian and English include children’s and young adult books, novels, nonfiction, comics and graphic novels. In 2018, she received the German Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize in the nonfiction category for her translation of Gianumberto Accinelli’s »Der Dominoeffekt«. In 2017, she published her first novel, »Glaube Liebe Stigmata«, which was shortlisted for the 2018 German Selfpublishing Award.
