Ulrich Raulff

Ulrich Raulff (born 1950) is a historian and author. He studied philosophy and history and worked as arts editor-in-chief of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and as a senior editor in the features section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. From 2004 to 2018, he directed the German Literature Archive in Marbach; from 2018 to 2025, he served as president of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations. Raulff has published books on Marc Bloch and Aby Warburg, as well as Kreis ohne Meister (Stefan George’s Afterlife) and Das letzte Jahrhundert der Pferde (The Last Century of Horses). His honors include the Anna Krüger Prize for scholarly prose and the 2010 Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the nonfiction/essay category.
