Gilles Deleuze (1925–1995) was a French philosopher. He studied at the Sorbonne and taught at secondary schools, the Sorbonne, the University of Lyon, and, from 1969 to 1987, the University of Paris VIII Vincennes–Saint-Denis. From 1960 to 1964, he worked at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique. His notable works include Nietzsche and Philosophy, Difference and Repetition, and Expressionism in Philosophy: Spinoza. With Félix Guattari, he co-authored Anti-Oedipus, A Thousand Plateaus, and What Is Philosophy?.
