Traian pop

Traian Pop, born in 1952 in Brașov (Kronstadt), Romania, is a writer, publisher, translator, and journalist. Alongside his literary work, he was employed as a sound engineer, copywriter, and stagehand for rock and jazz groups and at the German State Theatre in Timișoara. In December 1989 and January 1990, he was a member of the first editorial team of the newspaper “Temesvar.” His works published in German include “Schöne Aussichten” (2005), “Die 53. Woche” (2013), “Bleierne Flügel” (2017), “Absolute Macht” (2018), and “Posledni sněh / Der letzte Schnee.” His plays “Die Stadt der Lügenzwerge” and “Schöne Aussichten” were banned in 1989 and cancelled shortly before their premiere, respectively. Pop received, among other honors, the Romanian Writers’ Union Prize in 2002, the Andreas Gryphius Prize in 2020, and the Katzendorf Village Writer Prize in 2021.
