Peter Gehrisch, born in Dresden in 1942, studied German language and literature at the Leipzig University of Education and ethics at Dresden University of Technology. He worked as a teacher, including at the Dresden adult education centre and evening grammar school. His first book, “Dresden. Flug in die Vergangenheit,” co-authored with Christian Borchert, was published in 1993. His publications include the novel “Hans-Theodors Karneval oder Das Federnorakel” (2006) and several volumes of poetry. He also translated works including Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s “Vade-mecum” from Polish. In 2018, he received UNESCO’s Golden Ring on the occasion of World Poetry Day in Warsaw.
