Thorsten Schmidt

Thorsten Schmidt was born in 1970 and grew up in the Westerwald region of Germany. After completing secondary school, he joined the Rhineland-Palatinate police force in 1991 and worked as a detective. Interested in snakes from childhood, he began keeping and breeding them in 1993 and later published numerous specialist articles and several books on terrarium animals. He also wrote on self-defense, including a 2017 book on its theoretical foundations. His early interests included martial arts and reading, as well as motorcycling and sports and strategy games.
