Paul Collier

Paul Collier (born 1949 in Sheffield) is an economist. He taught economics at the University of Oxford, served as director of the Centre for the Study of African Economies, and headed the World Bank’s research department. His work has focused particularly on the world’s poorest countries and on the connections between poverty, war, and migration. His books include “Die unterste Milliarde” (2008), “Exodus” (2014), and “Gestrandet” (2017, with Alexander Betts). “Die unterste Milliarde” received, among other honors, the Lionel Gelber Prize and the Corine; “Sozialer Kapitalismus!” won the German Business Book Award in 2019.
