Joseph Stiglitz

Joseph Stiglitz (born 1943) is an economist. He taught at Yale, Princeton, Oxford and Stanford universities, as well as at Columbia University in New York. From 1993, he served as an economic adviser to the US government under President Bill Clinton; from 1997 to 2000, he was the World Bank’s chief economist. In 2001, he received the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. His best-known books include *Globalization and Its Discontents*, *Making Globalization Work*, *Freefall*, *The Price of Inequality* and *The Great Divide*.
