Tarek Badawia

Tarek Badawia (born 1966) is a scholar of Islam and religious education. He held a professorship and the Chair of Islamic Religious Studies, with a focus on religious education and the teaching of religion, at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. His research areas include the theory and practice of Islamic religious education and Islamic religious instruction, empirical educational research, and identity formation in the context of religion and migration. Further areas of work include Muslim pastoral care and the relationship between religion, extremism, and violence.
