Susanne Mayer, born in Bonn in 1952, studied literary studies in Freiburg and Ann Arbor, Michigan. From 1986 onward, she worked as a cultural reporter, literary critic, and author for the weekly newspaper Die Zeit. She became known in part for her feuilleton column “Männer!”. Her books include “Männer!” and “Die Kunst, stilvoll älter zu werden. Erfahrungen aus der Vintage-Zone” (2016). Mayer received the Theodor Wolff Prize in 1985 and the Emma Journalistinnen Prize in 1990 and 1994.
