Renatus Deckert, born in Dresden in 1977, studied literature and philosophy in Hamburg, Berlin, and Paris. He earned a doctorate on the destroyed city of Dresden in the poetry of Volker Braun, Heinz Czechowski, and Durs Grünbein. As an essayist, editor, and poet, he has published his own writings and served for ten years as a co-editor of the literary magazine Lose Blätter. In 2011, he received the Förderpreis zum Lessing-Preis des Freistaates Sachsen.
