Petra Hartlieb was born in Munich in 1967 and grew up in Upper Austria. She studied psychology and history, then worked as a press officer and literary critic in Vienna and Hamburg. In 2004, she took over a traditional bookshop in Vienna’s Währing district, which later became known as Hartliebs Bücher. She drew on her experiences in the book trade for »Meine wundervolle Buchhandlung« and »Weihnachten in der wundervollen Buchhandlung«. Her books published by DuMont also include the Vienna novels »Wenn es Frühling wird in Wien«, »Sommer in Wien« and »Herbst in Wien«, as well as the political thriller »Freunderlwirtschaft« (2024).
