Moshtari Hilal (born 1993) is a visual artist, researcher, curator, and author. She studied Islamic Studies in Hamburg, Berlin, and London, focusing on gender studies, decolonial studies, and cultural studies. Hilal co-founded the collective Afghan Visual Arts and History (AVAH) and the research project Curating Through Conflict with Care (CCC). Her artistic and discursive work has addressed beauty, ugliness, shame, and power. Her debut book, *Hässlichkeit* (*Ugliness*), was published by Hanser.
