Michael Mendl

Michael Mendl (born 1944 in Lünen) is a German theatre, film and television actor, as well as a radio-play and voice actor. He achieved his breakthrough in 1991 with Sönke Wortmann’s film »Little Sharks« (»Kleine Haie«). He became known for roles in films including »Brother of Sleep« (»Schlafes Bruder«), »Downfall« (»Der Untergang«), »Barefoot« (»Barfuß«), »14 Days to Life« (»14 Tage lebenslänglich«) and »In the Shadow of Power« (»Im Schatten der Macht«), in which he portrayed Willy Brandt. Mendl also performed on numerous German stages, including the Bavarian State Theatre in Munich, the Düsseldorf and Hamburg Schauspielhaus theatres, and the Salzburg Festival. His awards include the Bavarian Film Award in 1998 and the Golden Camera for Best German Actor in 2004.
