Meena Kandasamy

Meena Kandasamy was born in Chennai and is known as an author, translator and activist. Her work includes two poetry collections and the novels *The Gypsy Goddess* (published in German as *Reis & Asche*) and *When I Hit You* (German: *Schläge*). *The Gypsy Goddess* was nominated for the Dylan Thomas Prize and the DSC Prize. *When I Hit You* was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Hindu Literary Prize.
