Hans Thill

Hans Thill, born in Baden-Baden in 1954, is a German poet, prose author and translator. In 1978, he co-founded the Das Wunderhorn publishing house, where he worked until 2010. He translated numerous works, mainly from French, and edited the series and translation workshop “Poesie der Nachbarn – Dichter übersetzen Dichter.” From 2010 onward, he headed the Künstlerhaus Edenkoben; from 2008 to 2018, he served on the presidium of the German PEN as a Writers-for-Peace representative. Thill received the Peter Huchel Prize in 2004 and the Basel Poetry Prize in 2021. His publications include Das Buch der Dörfer, Ratgeber für Zeugleute and Der heisere Anarchimedes.
