Ernest Wichner

Ernest Wichner was born in 1952 in Guttenbrunn in the Banat region of Romania. After studying in Timișoara, he studied German and political science at the Free University of Berlin. From 1988 onward, he worked at Literaturhaus Berlin and served as its director from 2003 to 2017. Wichner worked as an author, translator, and editor, translating especially from Romanian. His publications include the poetry collections *Steinsuppe* (1988), *Rückseite der Gesten* (2003), and *Heute Mai und morgen du* (2022), as well as the story collection *Alte Bilder* (2001). In 2020, he received the Johann Heinrich Voß Prize for Translation.
