Maximilian Haas (born 1982 in Heppenheim) is a scholar of theatre, dance and media studies, as well as a dramaturg. He studied applied theatre studies at Justus Liebig University Giessen and earned his doctorate at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Haas worked at the Volksbühne theatre in Berlin and collaborated as a dramaturg with artists including David Weber-Krebs, Hannah Hurtzig, Martin Nachbar and Jeremy Wade. His academic work has addressed the aesthetics of contemporary performance art, Science and Animal Studies, and philosophical concepts associated with poststructuralism, new materialism and pragmatism. His publications include the 2021 volume “How to Relate: Wissen Künste Praktiken.”
