Max Rychner (1897–1965) was a Swiss literary critic, poet, and essayist. In the 1920s, he worked as an editor and publisher of the Neue Schweizer Rundschau. From 1931 to 1933, he wrote for the Kölnische Zeitung; after being dismissed for political reasons, he became a special correspondent for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung in Cologne. From 1939 onward, Rychner headed the feuilleton section of the Zurich daily newspaper Die Tat, shaping it until 1962 as an important forum for contemporary German-language literature.
