Martin Reinke, born in Hamburg in 1956, studied mathematics, philosophy and acting. He made his stage debut at the Zimmertheater Hamburg and subsequently performed at venues including the Stadttheater Heilbronn and the Vereinigte Bühnen Krefeld/Mönchengladbach. From 1990, he was a member of the Schauspiel Köln ensemble and, from 2006, also of Vienna’s Burgtheater. He became known in part for playing Mack the Knife in Günter Krämer’s production of The Threepenny Opera, which toured several cities and countries. In 1985/86, Reinke was named Germany’s Best Young Actor, and in 2002 he received an award as Best Actor of North Rhine-Westphalia. He was also honored with a Nestroy Award. From 1982 onward, he appeared in more than 100 radio plays and numerous audiobooks.
