Elisabeth Herrmann, born in 1959 in Marburg/Lahn, is a German author of thrillers, crime novels, and books for young readers. After studying television journalism, she worked for the public broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg before achieving her breakthrough with the novel “Das Kindermädchen.” The book was named the best German-language crime novel of 2005 by the jury of the KrimiWelt bestseller list. Herrmann received the German Crime Prize in 2012 for “Die Zeugin der Toten.” She has also received the Radio Bremen Crime Prize and the Glauser Award for the best youth crime novel in 2022. Several of her works, including “Das Kindermädchen,” “Die Zeugin der Toten,” and “Schattengrund,” have been adapted for television by ZDF.
