Markus Rahaus (born 1970 in Herten-Westerholt, Germany) studied biology at Ruhr University Bochum and subsequently earned a doctorate and habilitation in virology at the University of Witten/Herdecke. After working as a university lecturer, he moved into the pharmaceutical industry. Alongside his scientific career, he pursued photography and published more than 20 contributions in specialist magazines. In 2014, he published the photo and nature guide “Nördliches Cuxland: Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer – Küstenheide – Hochmoor.” He later published several crime novels, including “Mordlinie” and “Operation Sturmflut,” incorporating his expertise in virology into his fiction.
