Marie Alpermann (born 1988) studied Slavic studies and literature at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, specializing in South Slavic literature. Since 2019, she has worked as a freelance literary translator and editor, primarily translating from Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian. Before becoming a literary translator, she worked for several years in education policy, coordinating international volunteer services and the “Educational Weeks Against Racism.” Her translations include works by Lejla Kalamujić, Dragoslava Barzut, Jelena Lengold, Senka Marić, and Jasminka Petrović. Her translation work has received fellowships from the German Translators’ Fund, the Art Foundation of Saxony-Anhalt, and TRADUKI, among others.
