Marianne Holberg, born in Hamburg in 1939, studied German and history and initially worked as a teacher in Germany and the Netherlands. From 1994 onward, she worked as a freelance translator from Dutch. She translated novels by authors including Maarten ’t Hart, Hella S. Haasse, and Remco Campert into German, as well as children’s and young adult books and nonfiction.
